Anheuser-Busch Coastal Research Center Equipment Use Policy

The equipment and facility use policy of the Anheuser-Busch Coastal Research Center (ABCRC) is founded on the following principles:

Based on these principles, the equipment use policies of the Anheuser-Busch Coastal Research Center (ABCRC) are:

For Equipment Owned by ABCRC

The Director of the ABCRC shall designate a “responsible party” for each ABCRC room or piece of equipment. That party will be responsible for controlling access to that facility or equipment and assuring its safe use. To the maximum extent possible, the party will make equipment available to other facility users and resolve conflicts regarding such use. In the event that ABCRC users are unhappy with the way equipment or facilities are being stewarded, they may petition the ABCRC director for appointment of a new “responsible party.”

For Equipment Purchased using Research or Educational Grants

The policy here is the same as for ABCRC-owned resources with the exception that the ABCRC Director is required to designate the Principal Investigator of the grant purchasing the equipment as the “responsible party” and may not remove them from that role until completion of the grant period.

Use Costs for Facilities or Equipment

Pursuant to University of Virginia, State and Federal regulations, parties responsible for administering facilities and equipment may establish cost-recovery programs.
