Anheuser-Busch Coastal Research Center Laboratory Rules

 

 

1)    No food, beverages or smoking in the laboratory spaces.

 

2)    No alcoholic beverages permitted in the laboratory spaces.

 

3)    No pets.

 

4)    Do not move furniture or lab equipment between rooms without approval of Lab Manager.

 

5)    All personal lab gear must be kept in assigned storage space when not in use; see Lab Manager for storage space.  Do not remove items from other’s storage space without permission. Orphaned laboratory supplies etc. are subject to disposal.

 

6)    Common lab equipment or supplies can be checked out by contacting Lab Manager.

 

7)    This facility adheres to the policies of the University of Virginia regarding hazardous waste.  DO NOT pour hazardous waste down the sink. See https://ehs.virginia.edu/Chemical-Safety-Waste.html for details regarding Environmental Health and Safety.

 

8)    Confine activities to space assigned by Lab Manager.

 

9)    Samples placed in freezers and refrigerators must be labeled with owner’s name, sample contents, date stored and anticipated removal date.

 

10)     Rinse muddy boots and field shoes before entering lab building.

 

11)     Outside sinks are available for washing down samples and equipment, and should be used to prep samples/equipment prior to bringing them into the laboratory building.

 

12)     Laboratory spaces must be left clean, with equipment returned or stored, surfaces washed (and rinsed of salt water or salt residue) and trash cans emptied (take trash bags to the dumpster).
