I'd like to cover as much as we can of a north-south transect between Oyster and Quinby, a transect along Machipongo Channel to Hog, and a transect out to Cobb Island. That's a lot to cover. I know weather and other research schedules may make it hard to complete this, but the cruise plan isn't definite and the equipment and I can stay at the eastern shore longer if we get delayed.
Thanks, I'll be in touch with more details. we can iron out problems over the phone or by email. i may come out there early to collect some test samples and get gear set up - like a mounting system that will keep a bilge pump in two feet of water beside the boat while underway at 3 knots.

I'd like to work at least three long days, about seven hours on the water each day, running at between 3 and 4 knots 90% of the time. Let me know if that, or any of this, is unreasonable.

If possible, we plan to use the TNC vessel for the farther offshore samples and UVA boats for nearshore. We have a fairly ambitious sampling plan that covers the nearshore zone of every VA barrier island, part of the southern tip of Assateague and a bit into the mouth of the C Bay. I have discussed this plan with Art and need to finalize plans as best as possible. The plan approximately works like this: take 2-3 samples along every 1 minute latitude line at 2 minute longitude spacings to a water depth of app. 30 ft. We plan to collect app. 150 samples total. I will phone to discuss this plan in person. We can also start the week of 11 June although we put 18 June in the requested date as preferred. Thank you very much. I need to take my final water sampling trip for PhD. I am flexible on time to a certain degree. Low tide is at 10:27am on Thursday, and I need to be on S. Hog around low tide. Fowling point can be sampled at mid tide or lower. If possible, could we stop at Fowling Point on the way there. Then go to South Hog, where I need about 1 hour to collect samples at both sites on Hog. I would like to request Tuesday, September 4th as a backup day if possible. However, low tide is around 3pm that day. Thanks for your help.

The skiff has enough room for this. It's best if I could go without other students needing to make stops and do other things. The nature of my work demands sitting at each location for a while and being free from other demands such as people coming in and out of the boat, driving the boat while I'm processing samles...etc. Thanks.,8/21/2007, 18,31 Karen McGlathery, kjm4k@virginia.edu, kmcglathery, , 09/05/07, 0, Other, 3 marsh sites for Sergio/Pat/Karen marsh project, collect end of year biomass, 2, 2 hr before low, 2 hr after low, Yes, Low_tide, 24_ft_Privateer, none, Do_not_need_cell, ,8/22/2007, 12,52 Patrick Conroy, Pac8w@virginia.edu, ds
